Sometimes it’s minor updates, but others add new tools, like the colorize option just added a few months ago! So who knows, with some luck Liquify and more editing tools both for image and text will be available for us. But mesh transform can almost do it if you’re creative enough and have patience.Ĭlip Studio Paint has updates very regularly, almost monthly. Unfortunately, so far, there is no Liquify option as in photoshop to transform your tools like a liquid. But it is very useful and helpful to create some effects! No Liquify Option In Clip Studio Paint… Yet! It works very similarly as the distort option in Photoshop, it just takes a bit of time to get used to it and some patience to get the results we get.

The same grid and points will appear, but only in the part you just selected! This is very useful when you want to accentuate some curves on your drawing, without having to erase it and repeat the process. Check it out and follow for more content. Now just take the same steps as before to enter in Mesh Transformation mode. My blog mostly contains digital art but I may write about tips, guides, and other stuff.

Paint Tool Sai may have a free version around, but you should support the developer by buying it. Overall, I definitely recommend both programs. Like my linework on Sai to CSP gets flattened. Some things won’t be compatible or your layer gets rasterized. Just watch out for transferring your work to a different program. My drawing process now is sketching and line art with Sai and coloring with CSP. You should get the basics down of how drawing programs work and try drawing things manually instead of relying on brushes. I recommend Sai for digital art beginners. Sai has all the main features to get a drawing done well.Īlthough it’s nice to use Clip Studio Paint’s features, it doesn’t hurt to still use a simple program like Paint Tool Sai 2. Most things are straightforward if you’ve used a drawing program before or you’re just starting. I think the most complicated feature is the linework layer. Furthermore, the UI is easy to understand. Paint Tool Sai 2 focuses only on the drawing aspect rather than animation, comics, design, etc. Other programs are getting more advanced, but simplicity is still nice to have. Also, you can adjust weight, pressure, color, etc. Alternatively, you can hold shift+drag to select and alt+drag to deselect. Then you can move a bunch of lines at once. A little tip is to use the lasso selection or select pen to select multiple lines, go to Selection, and click Select Strokes with Selection. I like that Sai’s curve tool is easy to use by simply clicking to add a new point rather than dragging to make curves that sometimes look awkward with other programs. Once you get used to the controls (like adding curve points with ctrl or subtracting cure points with alt), it’s easy to control your lines and placement. With the pen tool, you can draw on that layer and adjustable anchor points will be on your lines. Line art can be drawn on a linework layer. If you’re interested in comic creation, this program might be for you. With the base version, you can make comic pages and even upload them online for others to read. Their upgraded version is geared toward making comics and animation. The program has tones, brushes, panels, and speech bubbles for comics. I have not tried making a comic yet with CSP, but I do see the potential. I definitely recommend learning about Gradient Maps to get some interesting color combinations. You can use color curves to adjust colors. Similar to Photoshop, CSP has a bunch of color correction tools and masks to get your coloring just right. Most materials are free, while some cost points to get.

You can download 3D poses, background materials, or color palettes too. Also, the process to get it from the Asset Library and set it as a brush is very easy. Download multiple brushes it’s quite endless and fun. Although, your drawings might seem repetitive if you keep using the same brushes. You never need to worry about drawing tedious things like trees, clouds, chains, feathers, certain materials, etc. Their brush/asset library is huge, made by other users. This is probably the #1 reason to get CSP. Now that I’ve finished a drawing using both programs, I’ll tell you the benefits of using both of them and how I use them.

Although, CSP has been on my mind to get. Paint tool Sai 2 has been my go-to program. I’ve been drawing digital art for over 10 years now on my own time. But what is it like? Should you get it? So here is my review of it. You may have seen Clip Studio Paint’s (CSP) occasional sales and heard rave reviews about it.
